"There
is no reason in our fast growing county for anyone to go to bed
hungry, without a roof over their heads, to be deprived of needed
medical care or go to work or school in tattered clothing. You can
help this be a reality by supporting Helping Hands.”
- Dr. Bruce Paton
Director Emeritus
The Board of Directors meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:00
p.m. Call (972) 771-4357 for detail.

Volunteer
Opportunities
Helping Hands is fortunate to have dozens of volunteers backing
up every staff member whether in the clinic, the food pantry, the
thrift store or the emergency assistance program. We couldn't run
the emergency assistance office without the seventeen regular volunteers
who help interview applicants for assistance, fill food orders,
arrange for utility and shelter payments and make referrals to other
agencies. The clinic staff is supplemented with volunteers who arrange
for patients to get dental services, eye exams and appointments
with specialists in Rockwall who provide services at reduced rates
or on a pro bono basis. The thrift store is also reliant on volunteers
who sort and hang clothing, prepare donations for the sales floor,
test small appliances, and arrange merchandise displays. Many seasonal
volunteers help out at Thanksgiving, Christmas and at the Back to
School Fair.
