"There is no reason in our fast growing county for anyone to go to bed hungry, without a roof over their heads, to be deprived of needed medical care or go to work or school in tattered clothing. You can help this be a reality by supporting Helping Hands.”
- Dr. Bruce Paton
Director Emeritus

Life Skills
The Family Independence Initiative Program (FII) is a program designed to help persons move away from long-term charitable assistance and begin developing the skills necessary to become financially stable. The FII program helps individuals over a 2 to 5 year period as they work toward many life changing goals, which includes higher education, jobs skills training, home ownership, and life skills training. Each participant is required to attend a 6 weeks life skills training program that includes:

• Goal Setting
• Job training
• Health Services
• Nutritional Service
• Financial Counseling
• Budgeting

Once each participant finishes the training classes they begin working on their own plans of service to reach their desired goals. Helping Hands offers case management, financial assistance, and a mentoring program. Helping Hands has already began to see many positive results from this program, as clients earn drivers license, become business owners, and find job that pay a livable wage. If you are interested in participating in the FII program or becoming a mentor, please contact Sue Welch, FII Coordinator, at 972-771-4357 X 208
